The Cayman Islands Darts Association [CIDA] was officially formed on the 14th May 1986. Since then its officers, members and players have been committed to establishing and furthering darts throughout the Cayman Islands, and the Caribbean.
Recently our National Team returned from the 17th Caribbean Cup & 4th Americas Cup Darts Championships in Trinidad & Tobago. We amassed 118 points in the Caribbean Cup, securing us a Fourth Place overall finish for that tournament.
During the tournament, several of our players took top honors. Once again Cayman returned with the Mens’ Singles Champion Trophy, when Edsel Haylock bested Anthony Forde of Barbados, on stage to take 1st place.
The Mens’ Doubles team of Cliff Weeks & Rodan Asuncion also achieved 2nd place overall, only being bested on stage by Florida’s Doubles team.
Earl Smith, a past Caribbean Cup Mens’ Singles Champion brought home the Most 180’s Trophy.
The CIDA organizes the Cayman Islands Dart League tournament throughout the year, and also the National Team qualifications. It is responsible for accumulating sponsorship and support for local darts teams and players, liaising with the Ministry for Sports [Government], the Caribbean Darts Organization [CDO], news-media, and organizers & sponsors of individual darts tournaments and competitions.
To the present, the hard-work of the officers & members of the CIDA have brought the organization to the point where it is is a recognized and respected entity within the sport of darts.
